About the Solid Waste & Recycling Department

The State of Connecticut has many laws affecting the collection, disposal and recycling of garbage and other refuse. Proper disposal of these items is a social and health concern to Fairfield residents, so the Solid Waste and Recycling Department was established to ensure Fairfield stays in conformance with State laws. The Solid Waste and Recycling Department is responsible for implementing the Connecticut General Statutes, ordinances and resolutions adopted by the Representative Town Meeting's and the Board of Health's regulations affecting collection, disposal and recycling of refuse.

The Solid Waste and Recycling Department oversees the Fairfield Solid Waste and Recycling Center, otherwise referred to as the Transfer Station or the "dump," where residents and businesses can dispose of their solid wastes.
