Dining/Night Life

Fairfield has a diverse and ever expanding offering of restaurants from casual to haute cuisine and has become a mecca for food lovers!! Once a year the town holds a popular Restaurant Week where participating restaurants offer prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner.

Museums

The Fairfield Museum & History Center, located in the heart of Fairfield's Historic Town Green, is a cultural and education center featuring Exhibit Galleries, a Research Library, Community Spaces and Museum Shop.

The Fairfield University Art Museum is a dynamic space for engagement with the visual arts on the campus of Fairfield University. In its Bellarmine Hall Galleries, the museum presents its permanent collection as well as complementary objects on long-term loan from important museum and private collections. The museum presents 4-6 special exhibitions annually, of ancient to contemporary art, in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries and in the museum’s Walsh Gallery in the Quick Center for the Arts. The museum is an essential academic and cultural resource that brings original works of art to Fairfield County, serving all of its audiences through outreach, free admission and free events.

Notable Museums in Neighboring Towns

The Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk offers educational exhibits and experiences for children and families and includes an Energy Lab, a "working lab" where children can learn about the science of energy.

The Bruce Museum of Arts and Science, in downtown Greenwich, has holdings of about 15,000 objects, including fine art, decorative art, natural history and anthropology. A second location is maintained at Greenwich Point Park, focuses on beach-related exhibits, including a touch-tank.  

The Housatonic Museum of Art, at Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport, has one of the most The Museum has one of the most significant collections of any two-year college in the country and includes works by master artists such as Rodin, Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Chagall, Cassatt, Warhol, Lichtenstein, and much more. 

The City Lights Museum, Bridgeport, presents local, regional and emerging artists and hosts community-based exhibits and events.

Music/Theater

Live music and theater lovers will find a number of venues to go to and listen to their favorites.

Fairfield Theatre Company, StageOne located in the heart of downtown Fairfield features everything from chamber music to jazz to rock music in an intimate 225-seat setting.

Fairfield Theatre Company, The Warehouse, the FTC's newest and most versatile space, is a 640 capacity, flexible seating theatre conveniently located in the heart of Fairfield. The Warehouse pairs a classic industrial feel with state of the art construction and staging.

The Klein Auditorium is a 1,400 seat Art Deco Theater in Bridgeport that has hosted such stars as Alice Cooper, B.B. King, Disco Biscuits, Dweezil Zappa, Herbie Hancock, George Carlin, Peter Frampton, Boyz II Men, Buddy Guy, and the B-52s, name a few.

On a large scale, the 10,000-seat The Webster Bank Arena in neighboring Bridgeport has featured top entertainers such as Elton John and Bob Dylan.

The Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University showcases classical and pop concerts, dance, theater, and lecture series.

The Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts at Sacred Heart University hosts a variety of lectures, theatrical, musical, and dance performances.

Bridgeport's historic Bijou Theater, opened at the turn of the 19th century as an opera house, has been renovated and reopened as a symposium for film, theatre, art, comedy and music.

For those who prefer a night at the movies, two side-by-side theater complexes, Showcase Cinemas in Fairfield and Showcase Cinemas in Bridgeport present all the current films as well as an art movie or two. 

College and Professional Sports

The Webster Bank Arena in neighboring Bridgeport is home to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. It is also home to the Division 1 Sacred Heart Hockey Team, The Pioneers. In addition, it is the home court for Fairfield University's men's and women's Division 1 basketball teams, the Fairfield University Stags
