Paint Recycling Centers' collections are set up periodically during the summer. All dates and locations are open to all Residents. This is a result of the Extended Producer Responsibility Law in Connecticut that began July 1, 2013, and which makes the Paint Manufacturers responsible for all costs with paint collection and recycling and will save the Town Of Fairfield money. This collection is only for Paint, and the town will continue to have a separate Hazardous Waste Collection which is only open to Fairfield Residents and HazWaste Central member Towns.Paint recycling is free and easy in Fairfield. All Fairfield residents can bring up to 5 gallons of paint (in their original containers) per person a day to their local collection point. At this point Sherwin-Williams (695 Post Road) is the only designated collection point in the town of Fairfield but more will be posted on this site as they become available. All interior and exterior latex and oil cans are accepted as well as many other paint types. Items not accepted are items such as Aerosol paint cans, paint thinners and marine paints. Left over paint is remixed into recycled paint, used as fuel, mixed into other products or properly disposed. Empty dried latex paint cans can be put directly into your trash, Oil based empty cans can be brought to hazardous waste collection or the designated drop off location(s) above.
