Town Clerk Betsy Browne reminds Fairfield's voters that absentee ballots are now available for the January 14th special election for State Representative in the 132nd District. A qualified registered voter may vote by absentee ballot for any of the following reasons: the voter will be out of town during all hours of voting, their illness or disability prevents them from voting in person, religious tenets prohibit secular activity on the day of the election, active US Military service, or service as an election official at a polling place other than their own.
Absentee voting is a two-step process requiring a completed and signed application to be filed with the Town Clerk before a ballot may be issued. Applications are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM at the Town Clerk's Office. The office will be open Saturday, January 11th from 9 AM until 12 noon for absentee balloting.
