Description
The Solid Waste and Recycling Commission directs and supervises the activities of the Solid Waste and Recycling Department, implementing state and local mandated programs for the collection, disposal, and recycling of garbage and other refuse.
Powers and Duties
Duties include:

Preparing a Solid Waste and Recycling Plan and amending the plan periodically as required by Connecticut state statutes.
- Reviewing and recommending to the RTM proposals for local and regional solid waste and recycling.
- Proposing ordinances for adoption by the RTM and adopt regulations for the disposal of solid waste and recycling of recyclable materials. Such regulations shall be adopted in accordance with the Fairfield Town Charter and the General Statutes of Connecticut.
