The Town of Fairfield is expecting a snowfall of 6-12”, with the possibility of 18”, beginning at 3 AM Saturday and ending around 8 PM Saturday night. Near blizzard conditions are possible.
First Selectwoman Kupchick announced, “Pursuant to the Fairfield Police Department’s Emergency Parking Restrictions, I am announcing an on-street alternate side-parking ban for the Town. To help DPW facilitate plowing and snow removal, and to prevent obstruction of traffic, alternate side of the street parking shall take effect starting midnight tonight until noon on Sunday.”
Street parking will only be allowed on even-numbered sides of any street. Any vehicle found in violation of this executive order may be issued a parking ticket and/or be towed at the discretion of the Fairfield Police Department. Officers will make reasonable efforts to contact owners before taking enforcement action.
Residents who cannot find a location to park on an even-numbered side of a street may park in any public school – elementary, middle or high - parking lot without permit or fee.
First Selectwoman Kupchick continued, “Travel is expected to be difficult and dangerous so we ask residents to please stay off the roads during the storm when possible so DPW can clear the snow. Please also remember that Fairfield property owners are responsible for removing snow and ice from the sidewalk along their property line within 24 hours after the storm. Keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice is very important to allow for pedestrian access, as well as fire hydrants. Stay safe, Fairfielders and please check on your elderly neighbors after the storm to make sure they are okay.”
Residents should be aware the Fairfield Public Library will be closed on Saturday, January 28th.
