Special Election for Selectman

NOTE: THE SPECIAL ELECTION FOR SELECTMAN WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 6TH.  THIS ELECTION IS FOR ALL REGISTERED VOTERS.

Events and Deadlines

Please note the following events and deadlines for the June 6, 2017 Special Election for Selectman. Polls will be open from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM at regular polling locations.  All registered voters are eligible to vote in the election, regardless of party affiliation.  If you are a Fairfield resident but are not registered to vote, visit our Register to Vote web page for registration information. Please note that Connecticut law does not permit voter registration on the day of special elections.

Mail-In/Online Voter Registration Deadline Tuesday,

By midnight for online registration; postmarked by May 30th for mail-in registration

The last day day before the election for eligible residents to register online or by mail is Tuesday, May 30th. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before this date; online registrations (which require current CT DMV ID) must be submitted before midnight. See details below for In-Person registration deadlines. There is no Election Day Registration.

In-Person Registration Deadline Monday,

Residents may register to vote in person during regular business hours (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) at the Registrars of Voters office until Monday, June 5th.

Absentee Voting Deadline Monday,
June 5th
By 4:30 PM

Absentee Ballot Applications and Ballots are available in the Town Clerk's office until 4:30 PM on Monday, June 5th.  Absentee Ballot Applications are also available online from the Secretary of State's website. 

Special Election Tuesday,
June 6th
6:00 AM - 8:00 PM

Polls are open from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM.  Voting takes place at regular polling locations.

NOTE: Connecticut law does not permit voter registration on the day of special elections. You must register to vote online or by mail (postmarked) by May 30th, or in person at the Registrars of Voters office until June 5th.

Absentee Ballot Return

All absentee ballots must be received in the the Town Clerk's office by 8:00 PM on Election Day. Please note that those voters appearing at Town Hall during the hours of voting on Election Day will be directed to check in and vote at their normal polling place, but absentee ballots returned by mail or emergency absentee ballots returned by the voter's designated agent must be in by this deadline.
