Registration Requirements

There are three requirements for anyone wishing to register to vote in Fairfield:

  • you must be a U.S. Citizen
  • you must be age 18 or older by the next general election
  • you must reside in the Town of Fairfield
If you have any questions about these requirements or your qualification to register, contact the Registrars of Voters Office for advice before submitting a registration form.

What to Provide

Please note that you must provide your bona fide residence address on your voter registration application.  This ensures that you will vote at the proper polling place and for the elected offices which actually represent you. Post Office boxes and private mail facility addresses are not acceptable in place of your residence address. If you do not wish to provide an address to the Registrars of Voters, you may apply for address confidentiality through the Secretary of State's office.

Finally, proper identification must be provided before you will be able to vote. If we cannot verify your DMV ID number or the last four digits of your Social Security number submitted with your voter registration application, you must present either a) a current and valid photo identification or b) a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or government document that shows your name and residence address at the polls before you can vote.
