Events and Deadlines

Please note the following events and deadlines for the November 5, 2024 Municipal Election. Polls will be open from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM at regular polling locations.  All registered voters are eligible to vote in the election, regardless of party affiliation.  If you are a Fairfield resident but are not registered to vote, visit our Register to vote, web page for registration information.

Regular Voter Registration Deadline Tuesday,
October 29th

By midnight for online registration; by 8:00 PM for in-person registration

The last day before the election for eligible residents to register to vote is Tuesday, one week before the election. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before this date; online registrations (which require current CT DMV ID) must be submitted before midnight. The Registrars of Voters Office will be open until 8:00 PM to accept in-person applications.

Those who miss the registration deadline may still vote by taking advantage of Election Day Registration.

Absentee Ballot Rescinding Deadline Tuesday,
November 5th
10:00 AM

If you have changed your mind about who to vote for, or wish to go to the polling place to vote in person, you may contact the Town Clerk to have your absentee ballot rescinded. 

Special Registration Deadlines for Newly Eligible Voters and Military Personnel Monday,
November 4th
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Those who have become citizens, turned 18, or become a resident of Fairfield in the seven days before the election may register the day before the election from 9am to 5pm. Active duty or recently discharged (last 12 months) servicemembers can register to vote on any day up until 5pm the day before the election.

Absentee Voting Deadline Monday,

 By 4:00 PM

Absentee Ballot Applications and Ballots are available in the Town Clerk's office up until the day before the election.  Absentee Ballot Applications are also available online from the Secretary of State's website.

6:00 AM - 8:00 PM

Polls are open from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM.  Voting for takes place at regular polling locations

Those missing the above voter registration deadlines may appear in person to register to vote - and vote - on Election Day from 6:00 am - 8:00 pm at the Registrars of Voters Office in Old Town Hall.  More information on Election Day Registration, including eligibility requirements, can be found on our Election Day Registration web page or via the Secretary of State's website.

Same Day Registration is available for those who want to register to vote - and vote - on Election Day and during early voting days.  Please contact the Registrars of Voters Office at 203-256-3115 to confirm that you are NOT already registered.  Those that are already registered in Fairfield must vote at their regular polling locations.  Please note that Election Day Registration is not allowed under Connecticut law for Special Elections or Primaries.

Where to Go

On Election Day, if you are not currently registered to vote in Fairfield but are eligible to, you may go to the Election Day Registration Location (listed above in red) between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 pm to both register and vote.  You should expect long lines.

What to Bring

Be sure to bring a current ID with photograph and address.  If your ID does not have your current Fairfield address, please bring a utility bill, etc. that shows your current address.  Please contact the Registrars of Voters Office at 203-256-3115 if you have any questions about eligibility and/or ID requirements.
