Epidemiology
The Health Department studies of the patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in Fairfield. The major areas of epidemiological work in Fairfield include disease etiology, outbreak investigation, disease surveillance, and the implementation of measures to control the spread of disease. Staff from the department will work closely with State and Federal Epidemiologists to assist with outbreak investigation study design, data collection, statistical analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of results. Staff members rely on their training in other scientific disciplines such as biology to understand disease processes and statistics to make efficient use of the data and draw appropriate conclusions.
