The Southern Connecticut Gas Company has notified the Fairfield Department of Public Works of two projects needed to assist residents in getting consistent gas delivery this winter.
The two projects will include these streets:
Bay Edge Court
Peter Court (Private)
South Benson Road
The plan is to try and accomplish the main roads of each project before winter sets in, so Project 1 would be Riverside Drive and Turney Road, Project 2 would be South Benson Road. Once the main roads are done, then start the side roads. The Gas Company contractors would apply a hot asphalt mix on these roads to get us through the winter. The goal here would be that the main roads that service more daily traffic would be paved, and side roads with less traffic would remain under construction. This plan has the ability to change if a stormy winter starts to develop, but we want to assist the Gas Company in getting improved gas to their customers and minimize problems for our residents by dragging this into the summer months. If mother nature cooperates, we will be getting final paving in the spring months and avoid disruption in the busy marina and beach season. The final paving plan will be evaluated in the field in the spring to assure the Town that any damages as a result of this construction gets properly paved again. The DPW Highway Department will be working directly with the Gas Company to assure the best outcome for Fairfield.
