Town to Conduct Virtual Public Informational Meeting regarding planned Pedestrian Improvements to Post Road (Route 130) in the Grasmere Neighborhood
Public Invited to Participate
Fairfield, CT - The Town of Fairfield will conduct a virtual public informational meeting regarding planned bicycle and pedestrian improvements along a section of the Post Road (Route 130) in the Grasmere neighborhood. The meeting will be held on Tuesday December 14th, beginning at 6:30 p.m., via Zoom.
The purpose of the informational meeting is to provide an update on the project, to review preliminary design plans and to receive comments. Preliminary design plans may be viewed here or by visiting https://bit.ly/3ps7iyn.
The project, which is being funded through a LOTCIP State grant, is intended to enhance pedestrian facilities along Grasmere Avenue as well as sections of the Post Road (Route 130) from the Bridgeport line to just west of Shoreham Village Drive. The project is aimed at improving bicycle and pedestrian safety while providing better connections to surrounding neighborhoods and businesses. The work is expected to include improvements to sidewalks, ramps, curbs, pedestrian signals, pavement markings and other streetscape treatments, as well as to create dedicated bike lanes and additional on-street parking where feasible. The project is intended to connect to future improvements to the Post Road Circle, which is the subject of a separate study and conceptual design undertaking. The Grasmere Pedestrian Improvement project is being managed by the Town’s Engineering Department with support from the Office of Community & Economic Development, and is being designed by SLR International Corporation, which has offices in Cheshire, CT. Following completion of design activities, work is expected to begin by the middle of next year.
