1/26/2015 - State of Connecticut & Town of Fairfield Declare State of Emergency

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced the following Emergency Message from the Town of Fairfield:

The State of Connecticut and the Town of Fairfield have declared a State of Emergency as a result of the pending blizzard. Residents are encouraged to make preparation to shelter in place for up to 72 hours.

We need to prepare for up to 3 feet of snow with drifts to 4 and 5 feet. Wind gusts may reach 60 MPH. This will create blizzard conditions, making road travel impossible. This may start as early as Monday evening.

United Illuminating is predicting power outages to reach up to 10,000 customers in their service region.

Expect all state highways to be closed to all traffic later tonight. We are asking people to stay off road as of 6:00 PM Monday, before the snow and winds increase and roads are impassable.

Our next update will occur at 5:00 PM.

For any non-emergency updates, check the recording at 203-254-4899. For life threatening emergencies, please call 911. We are asking everyone to treat this storm seriously. Please stay off the roads and stay safe.

Thank you
