First Selectman Mike Tetreau encourages the public to participate in Fairfield’s 6th Annual Holiday Shop & Stroll on Thursday, December 6th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The fun-filled event is being co-sponsored by the Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
Participating shops in downtown Fairfield will offer extended hours and an assortment of complimentary seasonal refreshments to shoppers. Traveling carolers and musicians will fill the air with holiday cheer.
This year, the Town and Chamber are partnering with @FairfieldMoms to make it a night not to be missed! The evening will kick off with Happy Hour from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at The Chelsea, 12 Unquowa Place, and will include special discounts on food and drinks, giveaways, shopping promotions, and free “Shop Fairfield” tote bags while supplies last. There will be an opportunity to create a holiday ornament during Happy Hour, thanks to the assistance of the newly-opened DIY home décor/creative skills, AR Workshop. Fairfield Moms will also be sponsoring a festive after-party beginning at 9:00 pm at 55 Wine Bar and Wood Grille (55 Miller Street) in which there will be extended Happy Hour deals while shoppers enjoy music and fun.
“This is a great opportunity to buy local and support our local businesses while getting some of your holiday shopping done,” said First Selectman Tetreau.
Additionally, this year’s Holiday Shop & Stroll will again feature a 90-minute ice-sculpting demonstration beginning at 6:00 pm at Sherman Green by world-renowned ice carver Bill Covitz of Ice Matters. Mr. Covitz will be exhibiting his considerable talents and skill carving a single block of ice into a holiday motif. Additional ice sculptures will be on display at several downtown locations, courtesy of Specs, Sturges Ridge of Fairfield, Kleban Properties, Henry C. Reid & Son Jewelers and Candlewood Market.
First Selectman Tetreau is also pleased to share that there will be caroling by the Fairfield Warde High School Chamber Singers, Fairfield Ludlowe High School (Close Harmony) and Fairfield Prep High School (Encords). The Fairfield Ludlowe Brass ensemble and Flute choir will also be appearing. Shoppers can also participate through Sunday, December 9th in a special drawing for a chance to win a Fairfield shopping spree and other great prizes. Shoppers can pick up an entry form beginning December 6th at Old Town Hall, Independence Hall or any one of the following retailers participating in this special promotion: Apricot Lane, The Beehive, Capri, Ciao Bella, Driftwood Farmhouse, Fairfield University Bookstore, Henry C. Reid & Son, In the Mood Intimates, Island Outfitters, the Label Exchange, La Moda Fashions, No. 299, Penfield Collective, the Perfect Pair, Saltwater, soundRUNNER, Snappy Gator, Specs, the Studio Fairfield, Swim ‘n Surf and Vintage Garden. Families looking for an opportunity to visit with Santa may want to check out the Southport Christmas Walk on December 6th which begins at 5:00 pm with Santa’s arrival via fire truck in Southport Village. This charming, family-friendly tradition is sponsored annually by the Southport Merchants Association. Children will have an opportunity to visit with Santa at the offices of The Russell Agency followed by the lighting of the Hospice Tree of Light.
Fairfield Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz added, “The Chamber of Commerce is happy to be partnering with the Town on this festive event as it will give our businesses another opportunity to open their doors to the community, meet new customers from surrounding towns, and together, help celebrate the holiday season with a wonderful shopping experience!”
