Fairfield CARES for a better Future for Fairfield

#BuildaBetterFairfield

Fairfield CARES Community Coalition participated in this year's GivingTuesday on November 30th to raise unrestricted funds for our organization and help inspire our community envision a thriving Future for Fairfield while bringing us together through generosity.

Thank you to all who gave yesterday - whatever organization or method of giving you chose! You are making a difference in the world. With your support, we were able to raise nearly $2K from 18 donors. These funds will allow us to expand our work with and for young people to end youth substance misuse, prevent suicide and problem gaming, and educate parents on how to support their children.

If you’d like to become an active member of the coalition or volunteer your time and talent, we would welcome your participation. You can sign up by completing this form or by reaching out directly to our Program Director and Coalition Coordinator, Cathy Hazlett at chazlett@fairfieldschools.net.

Fairfield CARES is a community coalition which means we need you, the members of our community, to help make it work and to serve our young people. Thank you again for your interest in supporting our mission to prevent substance misuse, foster social and emotional wellness and resilience among youth, young adults, and families. The Coalition builds capacity, mobilizes the Fairfield community, and develops comprehensive strategies to help families make healthy choices that allow youth and young adults to thrive.

While #GivingTuesday has concluded, our donation link remains open throughout December:

For check based giving, please make your check payable to Positive Directions and note Fairfield CARES in the memo field, then mail your donation to Positive Directions - The Center for Prevention & Counseling Inc., 90 Post Road West, Westport, CT 06880-4208. We are immensely grateful for our long standing partnership with our fiduciary agent Positive Directions.

History of GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. GivingTuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

GivingTuesday recognizes that we each can drive an enormous amount of positive change by rooting our everyday actions, decisions, and behavior in radical generosity—the concept that the suffering of others should be as intolerable to us as our own suffering. Radical generosity invites people in to give what they can to create systemic change.

We encourage everyone to celebrate GivingTuesday and every Tuesday to participate in kindness and giving. While we hope Fairfield CARES will be your charity of choice on the 30th, you can find additional ideas for how you can make a difference on GivingTuesday at https://www.givingtuesday.org/united-states/ideas/.
