Hidden in Plain Sight
Hidden in Plain Sight is an initiative to help parents spot signs of risky behavior. The focus is on being able to recognize signs of substance use and being aware of the locations. This is a free, interactive 360-degree display of a teenager’s bedroom and car. It contains items signaling that a young person might be involved in risky activities. Parents can learn how to spot the warning signs, how to prevent easy access to alcohol and other drugs, what to do when you find a substance and get tips for communicating with your teens. These images are 360-degree view, use your mouse to look at other areas of the room or the backseat of the car. Thank you to Birsmarck-Burleigh Public Health for this interactive module.
This self-paced activity works best on a computer screen in full-screen mode, or on a hand-held device in horizontal viewing mode.
We encourage you to also participate in a 'live' on-line or in-person Hidden in Plain Sight presentation when possible, for a deeper understanding and discussion. Our Partners in Prevention, TPAUD, recently held a virtual HIPS presentation and shared the slides linked here.
