The Town Resource For Healthy Choices
National Prevention Week is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of mental health and/or substance use disorders. Each year, National Prevention Week includes daily themes to focus on major substance use and mental health topics.
This year's themes are:
- Monday, May 11: Preventing Prescription Drug and Opioid Misuse
- Tuesday, May 12: Preventing Underage Drinking and Alcohol Misuse
- Wednesday, May 13: Preventing Illicit Drug Use and Youth Marijuana Use
- Thursday, May 14: Preventing Youth Tobacco Use (E-Cigarettes and Vaping)
- Friday, May 15: Preventing Suicide
Fairfield CARES will be sharing tips and resources throughout the week on our social media channels. If you don't already, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
In addition, our community resource check-in survey will remain open until May 10th. We would also like to remind you that we are co-sponsors of the Courageous Parenting Online Parent Training event this Monday, May 11th at 3:30 PM. We encourage all to register by email to info@thehubct.org and to mark your calendars to tune in online. Most importantly, please register for two virtual National Prevention Week presentations, 'Creating a New Normal: Re-Imagining a More Compassionate Future' on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM and 'Prevention in a Pandemic: Focusing on What we CAN DO' on Thursday, May 14, 2020, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
Thank you for sharing this information in your circles to spread the word.
