Events and Deadlines
Please note the following events and deadlines for the November 3, 2020 State/Federal Election. Polls will be open from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM at regular polling locations. All registered voters are eligible to vote in the election, regardless of party affiliation. If you are a Fairfield resident but are not registered to vote, visit our Register to Vote web page for registration information.

Regular Voter Registration Deadline |

The last day before the election for eligible residents to register to vote is Tuesday, one week before the election. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before this date; online registrations (which require current CT DMV ID) must be submitted before midnight. The Registrars of Voters Office will be open until 8:00 PM to accept in-person applications.
Those who miss the registration deadline may still vote by taking advantage of Election Day Registration.

Absentee Ballot Rescinding Deadline |

If you have changed your mind about who to vote for, or wish to go to the polling place to vote in person, you may contact the Town Clerk to have your absentee ballot rescinded.

Special Registration Deadlines for Newly Eligible voters and Military Personnel |

Those who have become citizens, turned 18, or become a resident of Fairfield in the seven days before the election may register the day before the election from 9am to 5pm. Active duty or recently discharged (last 12 months) servicemembers can register to vote on any day up until 5pm the day before the election.

Absentee Ballot Applications and Ballots are available in the Town Clerk's office until 4:00 PM the day before the election. Absentee Ballot Applications are also available online from the Secretary of State's website.

Polls are open from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM. Voting for takes place at regular polling locations.

Those missing the above voter registration deadlines may appear in person to register to vote - and vote - on Election Day from 6:00 am - 8:00 pm at their regular polling place, or at the Registrars of Voters Office in Old Town Hall.
