The Solid Waste and Recycling Commission oversees the Town's Department of Solid Waste and Recycling and the Town Transfer Station, where private haulers and Town residents bring garbage, recyclables and yard waste.


The Solid Waste and Recycling Commission generally meets eight times per year (no meeting in July, August, October or December) on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 pm in the first floor conference room of Sullivan Independence Hall, 725 Old Post Road. All schedules and locations are subject to change. Please check the Town Meetings Calendar for cancellations or location changes.

Most Requested Information

The Transfer Station facilities on Richard White Way operate from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday and from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturdays (closed Sundays). The Transfer Station is closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Propane tanks and fire extinguishers may be recycled at the Transfer Station, for a fee.  For propane cylinders #1 through #5: $1.00.  For propane cylinders #20 and fire extinguishers: $5.00
