About the Police Department

Keeping our town residents safe from crime is the mission of the Fairfield Police Department which currently employs more than 100 sworn officers along with a large staff of authorized Special Agents, telecommunicators, Animal Control officers, Marina Guards, and civilian personnel. The department has three divisions; Field Services Bureau, Support Services Bureau and the Professional Standards and Public Affairs Bureau. There are also several specialized units within those divisions: Bike Patrol, Marine Patrol, Motorcycle Patrol, Emergency Services Unit, Dive Team, Traffic Crash Investigation Unit, SRO's as well as D.A.R.E. and other community programs.

The Police Department stays closely connected to the community by providing information through its Facebook page, helping out during town emergencies, participating in fundraisers, like Special Olympics. It also supports events that raise community awareness, among them Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to raise awareness about domestic violence and Shred Day to highlight the importance of shredding documents to avert identity theft.
