The Town of Fairfield, through its Office of Community & Economic Development, will conduct a public hearing regarding applications that were received under the 2019 Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Program.

A summary of the applications received may be viewed here.

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the 2nd floor conference room of Old Town Hall, 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield, Connecticut. Following the hearing, the Town will present its final list of proposed NAA programs to the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) for its consideration and approval at its meeting on Monday, June 24.

The NAA program is designed to provide funding for certain eligible activities of municipal and tax exempt organizations. Eligible programs include, but are not necessarily limited to, energy conservation, neighborhood assistance, employment and training, child care services, substance abuse prevention, crime prevention activities, donations to open space acquisition funds, and construction or rehabilitation of dwelling units for families of low or moderate income.

This program allows businesses to claim a State tax credit for cash contributions made to qualifying community programs conducted by tax exempt or municipal agencies.  The types of community programs that qualify for the NAA tax credit program include, but are not necessarily limited to: energy conservation; employment and training; child care services; neighborhood assistance; substance abuse; open space acquisition; crime prevention programs and affordable housing development.  The minimum contribution on which a tax credit may be granted is $250, and the maximum contribution that any non-profit or municipal entity can receive under this program is $150,000.  There are no Town funds involved.
