The Board of Selectmen is pleased to announce that the 2017 Employee of the Year has been awarded to Mark Barnhart. Prior to serving as Fairfield’s Director of Community and Economic Development since 2002, Mark was the Town of Stratford’s youngest ever Town Manager (before the Town had a Mayor).
Always taking initiative in needed directions competently and unhesitatingly, Mark has his finger on the pulse of the economic scene in Fairfield. He looks for innovative ways to attract businesses, but also respects and understands that Fairfield’s quality of life is meant for everyone.
There was a tie for Fairfielder of the Year. The winners are Tom Quinn who is best known in his roles as former Commander and current Senior Vice Commander of Lt. Owen Fish Post #143 American Legion, Chair of the Holland Hill Building Committee and former Chair of the Riverfield Building Committee, and Bob Frigo, a resident of Fairfield for 30+ years, who made significant and long-lasting contributions to our library, seniors and was a strong and passionate advocate for affordable housing. Bob sadly passed away this past October.
A plaque listing all of the winners, including previous winners, is hung in the lobby of Sullivan Independence Hall on the Burr Homestead side.
