Bonfire Permits        

What a wonderful way to spend an evening with family and friends. Bring the wood and some marshmallows and you’re ready to go!

Fairfield Residents, 21 years and older, are able to reserve a Bonfire via our online registration website. Bonfire Season is from May 1st through September 30th. Reservations are able to be made as of March 14th at 9:00am.  The three (3) Bonfire locations include Jennings Beach (J2 Entrance), Jennings Beach (J6 Entrance) and Lake Mohegan.  Please note, alcoholic beverages of any kind are not permitted in any Town of Fairfield park. Food trucks are not permitted.

  1. A $50.00 fee will be collected via Credit card at the time of booking.

    1. Refunds (minus a 10% admin fee) will only be given if permit is cancelled 3 weeks prior to reservation date.

    2. In instances of Inclement Weather, a call must be made to the Rec Office the next business day to reschedule. If no dates are available, a refund will be processed.

  2. Following your confirmed reservation and payment, a permit will be emailed to you which includes the Permit To Burn. Be sure to have your Permit to Burn/Receipt with you the night of the event. 

  3. The Bonfire Permit will give specifics about setting the bonfire itself. Fires must be prepared in the fire pit provided.  Please be ready to specify date & preferred location.   
    a.   Site 1  - Jennings Beach - Ramp J-2 (Map)
    b.   Site 2  - Jennings Beach - Ramp J-6 (Map)

    c.   Site 3  - Lake Mohegan (Map)

  4. Firewood ONLY may be burned and is not provided. Wood Pallets are forbidden as they leave nails in the sand. Use of tires or chemicals is not approved for starting the fires

  5. .Before leaving beach, fire must be extinguished by dousing with water. Do not cover with sand.

  6. Beaches close at 11:00 PM. All persons must leave premises by 10:45 PM.

  7. Beach Stickers are necessary from Memorial Day Saturday to Labor Day. Daily Parking Fees, for those who do not have a beach sticker, will be collected until 8:00 PM ($20 on weekdays and $50 on weekends and holidays). After 8:00 PM, there will be no entrance permitted without a sticker.


To reserve a bonfire online:

  1. Login to our program registration website at

  2. Input your username and password.

  3. From the top toolbar, select “Search” and then the drop down, “Facility Search”

    1. There, you can filter your search by putting in the requested Date & Facility Class (ex. Bonfire) and select search.

  4. Green blocks highlight available time slots.

  5. Select your preferred time slot and, when prompted, in the lower left of the screen “Add to Cart”

  6. The software will confirm which member of your family is reserving the bonfire. Toggle on the family member making the reservation.

  7. The software will confirm the reason for your reservation; please feel free to type in something generic like “Family Reunion” or “Graduation Party”.

  8. You will be automatically brought to your shopping cart. At this stage you can either choose to “check-out”, “empty cart” or “continue shopping”.

  9. To check out, select check out, verify contact information and hit “continue”. By hitting continue, you will complete the registration process and a confirmation email and receipt will be generated.

  10. You are required to keep the digital copy of your permit accessible during your reservation.
