Function

The Board of Health is the policy making body for the Health Department.

Meetings

The Board of Health generally meets the second Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in-person in the First Floor Conference Room in The Honorable John J. Sullivan Independence Hall, 725 Old Post Road and via Conference Call Bridge. All schedules and locations are subject to change. Please check the Town Meetings Calendar for cancellations or location changes.    

Powers and Duties

  • Making and amending rules for the promotion and preservation of the public health, health services in public schools, and sanitation as required, in accordance with the General Statutes, the state public health code and other state and town regulations and ordinances. 
  • Advising the Director of Health in all matters related to public health, and health services in the town schools
  • Appointing the School and Well Child Clinic medical advisors
