Founded in 1972, the Housatonic Model Railway Club is a not for profit organization whose purpose is to further the enjoyment of the model railroad hobby, through the building and operation of HO scale model trains. A few years ago, the club moved to a new location where members began construction of a layout mode led after the Norwalk to Danbury run and beyond. Mr. Bruce Carter, a Fairfield resident and member of the Human Services Commission, suggested this activity to Ms. Terry Giegengack, Director of Human and Social Services, as a way to bring generations together, to create family memories, encourage fun, and showcase the Senior Center. Ms. Giegengack said, “We are very fortunate and grateful to Bruce and the Housatonic Model Railway Club for this wonderful opportunity. It is a big undertaking and we are delighted to offer our support and the space to help make it a success.”
The Fairfield Senior Center is located at 100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield, CT 06824 off of Oldfield Road. It is handicapped accessible. Parking is free of charge. This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. For more information, call 203-256-3166 Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 4 P.M
