About Us

It is the responsibility of Animal Control to investigate roaming dogs, animal bites, cruelty to animal complaints, barking, unreasonable tethering or confinement of a dog, town defecation ordinance, leash law, valid rabies vaccinations, dog licensure, and rabies-related wildlife complaints that present an eminent danger to the community.

The town’s Animal Shelter impounds 400 to 600 animals annually. The shelter is open daily with staff available for emergencies 24 hours a day. Animals may be adopted from the town’s animal shelter.

The Animal Control Division also holds period seminars on wildlife-related issues, most recently on dealing with coyotes, and also does annual rabies clinics where rabies vaccines can be obtained for a low cost or for no cost to qualifying citizens.

Mission Statement

To enforce all state and local laws concerning roaming dogs, barking dogs, animal bites, nuisance complaints, and rabies related wildlife complaints.
