Libraries

“People may go to the library looking mainly for information, but they find each other there."--Robert Putnam

Fairfield’s libraries are community and cultural centers at the heart of our town.  Of course there are books to borrow—or buy at the popular used book sales—but our libraries also offer people the chance to experience classes on everything from financial planning to crafts to film and literature.  There are book clubs, live performances, a seed library, an art gallery and historically significant collections waiting to be discovered at Fairfield’s many libraries.  Explore their diverse offerings below.

Public Libraries

Fairfield has two public libraries: The Main Library in downtown Fairfield and the Branch Library on Fairfield Woods Road. Both have rich collections of books and resources and a vast selection of e-books and audiobooks. The Fairfield Public Libraries have extensive series of events from career consulting, job search boot camps, author workshops, local political debates, seminars on current topics, and much more. And, of course, many rich programs for children. The Main Library website also has lots of helpful information and resources about town events, town clubs and organizations, and other community links.
