How does the Town of Fairfield handle the disposal of Surplus Property?

The Town Charter requires the Purchasing department to circulate a description of the property to other departments, boards, and commissions and transfer property based on need for all surplus equipment valued over $100. If none, Purchasing will then advertize for bids and sell to the highest bidder. Small-value items are generally offered to local not-for-profit groups.
