Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What changes for me when I park and pay on a daily basis?
You will receive a different ticket that has been designed for easier issuing and paying. You can still pay by mail but now can also pay by phone 1-866-658 6082 or online via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) or even PayPal. Payments online can be made here. All you need is one of your ticket numbers to input for accessing your payments to be made. Mailed payment (address found on the back of your ticket) still goes to Parking Authority of Fairfield, P.O. Box 6014, Brattleboro, VT 05302-9913.
2. Are any of the extra fees changing?
If you pay within 10 days of receiving the ticket, the current $0.50 convenience fee is being waived. However, if you pay late, there will now be a $3.50 convenience fee for handling payments via credit card.
3. What if I receive a police violation ticket for the $35 payment?
The same new payment rules apply online, but keep in mind there is a different place to mail in payment found on the back of your ticket: Fairfield Police Department Processing Center, P.O. Box 2040, Tarrytown, NY 10591-9040.
4. Why are these changes taking place?
The Parking Authority and Town of Fairfield heard from many commuters that they wanted the added convenience of paying by credit card along with less confusion around payment options and amounts. Simultaneously, the Town has been looking for ways to make the process of reviewing parked cars and assigning tickets each day more streamlined. These new automated systems allow for more convenience for everyone.
5. When do these changes take place?
Starting on Friday morning, December 7th, the new tickets will be issued and new payments can be made.
6. Can I pay my old tickets with the new payment system?
You just need one ticket number for each of your vehicles you have parked at the station and they will all be listed.
You will need to make the old ticket number ten digits by adding the prefix R00 then the yellow ticket number. R00 (zero, zero) if it is Railroad, P00 (zero, zero) if it is an orange Police ticket.
7. Can I pay by phone and put on my credit card?
Yes, you can pay by phone, Dial 1-866-658-6082. It will ask you if you want to pay a Railroad parking ticket press 1 or Police Dept. ticket press 2. By doing this it will put the prefix of R for Parking Authority Railroad parking or a P for the Police dept. ticket, when prompted put in your ticket number ( the yellow tickets for Parking Authority have seven digits) the system will automatically put the extra zero’s to support the new systems ten digit requirement.
8. How do I appeal a day fee ticket?
If the ticket starts with the letter R - within ten days you need to submit an appeal form - download, print & mail it to the Parking Authority of Fairfield.
If the ticket starts with the letter P - it is a Police ticket. Please visit the Fairfield Police Department site for their appeal form.
