The Town of Fairfield Conservation Department is seeking a part time secretary to perform standard secretarial and business functions in support of the conservation, open space, marsh restoration, inland wetland, and shellfish programs. The principle focus of the position involves working in a fast paced environment, serving the staff and public by answering the telephones, making copies, assisting with collating and distribution of monthly meeting agendas, filing, receiving and responding to public inquiries, processing correspondence and office documents using routine word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Perform other general office duties as required or assigned.
Good communication skills and ability to assist public at counter and on phone with patience, courtesy and tact. Knowledge of secretarial and business procedures and software is required. Knowledge of the operation of a variety of standard office equipment such as a computer (MS Word & Excel), printer, fax and copier is required.
Must be able to access storage shelves by platform/ladder; lift and carry bundles of documents, rolls of plans, and boxes of files weighing up to 30 lbs.
Position Limited to: 19.5 hours per week/1014 hours annually. Monday through Friday – Schedule to be established.
