New this Fall, the Fairfield Health Department and partners, Fairfield Senior Center and Rehabilitation Associates Inc., will launch its new Diabetes and Chronic Disease Support Group. What was originally the Fairfield Diabetes Support Group will now be widening its base of topics to address prevention and treatment of all chronic diseases.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer, obesity, and arthritis, are responsible for 7 out of 10 deaths in the United States. Furthermore, ½ of American adults have at least one chronic condition while almost 1 in 3 have multiple chronic conditions.
The group meets the second of Tuesday of each month (September through June) from 1-2pm at the Fairfield Senior Center (100 Mona Terrace) in Room 14. The group is facilitated by Courtney Sansonetti, RD, CDE from Rehabilitation Associates Inc. and Santina Galbo, MS, CHES from the Fairfield Health Department. Pre-registration is NOT required to attend sessions and all sessions are FREE. For more information please visit www.fairfieldct.org/health or visit the Fairfield Health Department’s Facebook page to stay up to date on monthly topics and speakers.
