5/30/2017 - Downtown Farmers Market Set to Return June 11th

Sundays in downtown Fairfield are about to become even more fun. The Fairfield Farmers Market returns for its second season starting Sunday, June 11. The market will be held every Sunday 10AM-2PM, rain or shine, throughout the summer until October 1st on Sherman Green in downtown Fairfield. Over 20 farms and food producers will have everything you need for beach picnics, Sunday dinner, even your weekly shopping.

Five Connecticut farms, including Fairfield’s own Little River Farm, will have the freshest seasonal vegetables and salad greens around. You’ll find fresh fish from Rhode Island, pasture-raised beef, pork, and chicken, as well as goat and cow cheese. Whole G is back with their artisan breads and pastries, and Fairfield’s Riverside Baking Company will have muffins, cookies, scones, pies and tarts. Tasty Good Eats has all sorts of gluten free baked goods.

Check off every item on your grocery list as the market will offer salami, pickles, local honey, fruit jelly & jam, olive oil and maple syrup. New to the market this year is Fairfield’s Carbon Chocolate Workshop featuring bean to bar organic chocolate confections. The family dog will be happy to hear Molly & Murphy Biscuits is back again this year, and Paul’s Custom Pet Food is a new vendor. This year’s farms and vendors include:

The Fairfield Farmers Market was started in 2016 by local restaurant owner Bill Auer in collaboration with Mark Barnhart and the Fairfield Economic Development Commission. “We are delighted to have the farmers market return to downtown Fairfield after a very successful inaugural season,” remarked Mark Barnhart, Director of Community & Economic Development. First Selectman Mike Tetreau added, “Folks love the farmers market and appreciate both the variety and high quality of the products. It’s a great way to support local farms, and it’s a fun community gathering at the same time.”

The Downtown market joins the Greenfield Hill Farmers Market, located at 65 Hillside Road, which is held Saturdays from 10AM to 3PM, through the fall.
