The Town of Fairfield is committed to being prepared for all types of emergencies and to preparing its citizens to most effectively deal with emergencies situations.
Emergency Preparedness Resources
The Town of Fairfield provides an Emergency Preparedness Resources web page that contains information on what you can do to prepare for all types of emergencies, including weather and other events.
Fairfield uses CodeRED to communicate with residents in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing children reports. Please sign up to get Code Red Alerts here.
During storm emergencies the Town maintains an information hotline that citizens can call to hear recorded messages - 203-254-4899.
During storm emergencies the Town maintains a storm web page - www.fairfieldct.org/storm - that includes announcements and updates from the Emergency Management Team as well as other helpful storm-related information. During a storm or other significant Town event, a red announcement banner will be displayed across the top of all Town web pages.
Fairfield Emergency Management Team
The Town of Fairfield has an Emergency Management Team specifically trained to handle emergencies. The team consists of members of the Police, Fire and Health departments and the First Selectman.
Citizen Corps Council
The Fairfield Citizen Corps Council was established in 2004 as part of a federal initiative after September 11, 2001, to increase citizen involvement and emergency preparedness. The Council consists of volunteers from various segments of the population and representatives from the Health Department, Police Department, Fire Department – Emergency Management, the American Red Cross, and more. The Council's mission is to identify ways to better prepare the Fairfield community to respond to a major emergency or disaster, and thus increase community resiliency. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
CERT is a program established by the Fairfield Citizen Corps Council. This volunteer group trains according to FEMA guidelines and provides a group of volunteers who are are trained to be ready and able to help in a major emergency or disaster, under the direction of Fairfield Emergency Management.
