About The Office of Community & Economic Development
The Office of Community & Economic Development helps facilitate the transition of new businesses and residents moving to Fairfield.
The Business & Commerce portal of the site contains information on programs available to help businesses wishing to open or to relocate to Fairfield and to aid those who have existing businesses here. The Office also maintains a "Site Finder" so businesses can search for business site locations.
The Office of Community & Economic Development also oversees the Downtown Employee Parking Program, as well as various streetscape and beautification initiatives in the central business district and other commercial corridors.
The Community Development arm of the Office of Community & Economic Development promotes affordable housing through the use of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other programs available to assist eligible homebuyers who need help funding their purchase and single- and multi-family homeowners and owners who require assistance maintaining their properties to keep them safe and habitable.
As an entitlement community, Fairfield receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which the Office of Community & Economic Development administers on behalf of the Town. In coordination with the Affordable Housing Task Force , the Office works to encourage, promote and facilitate the development of affordable housing in Fairfield.
The Office also serves as the Fair Housing Agent for the Town of Fairfield.
